Re: Maitence on WOLTK release? FO PA!

Unrelated, but I'm not too happy about the timing either. GOW2 and COD5 were released this week and I took Friday off to play (i.e. stay up LATE Thursday night too). Oh well, you can't control the world, just yourself. Guess I'll check out the offline modes Thursday night....

And yes, we are nerds. So f*cking what? : ) If your client base are nerds, cater to the nerds! That's who pays yer bills yo! (mockingly Federline-esque, I don't actually talk that way LOL) ooooo, that's nerdy too huh : )

I'm also going tomorrow night for the midnight release. I have already actually paid for the game. I'm also installing it now. Blizzard has download links up for people to get a head start. I'd thought I'd add my two cents while I'm waiting for the servers to come back up to do our last Sunwell raid. Hopefully I can finally get my bow! Please, for all that is holy in this world, do the maintenance another time!

Seriously, this is retarded timing. A little over one day's notice for something that isn't an emergency? You can't tell me the people inside the organization aren't aware of the importance of this day to a large number of their clients (and any other ISP really).
As this is classified as a residential non-essential service by the CRTC, you should be lucky you get ANY notification. Also, this work is being done during the standard maintenance window. If your work was mission critical during this time, you should NOT be on this service and instead on a dedicated line with an SLA.

I've been calling around frantic trying to find an ISP that will leave give me an active login and password that I can use immediately, but they are all giving me the BS about 5-9 days to deactivate current DSL and turn theirs on.. Anyone had any luck finding someone?

Wednesday Night/Thursday morning is the single most important night for any serious WoW player over the last 2 years.. They HAD to have known when they scheduled this (considering so many of there own employee's play), or at least anytime before they sent out the emails that this MAJOR MMO event was happening that night. They just obviously dont care.

I've already started looking for a new ISP. Any company who would take down there service at the same time when the Largest MMO game (probably in history) with such a MASSIVE following is launching there BIGGEST Expansion.. Obviously has very little regard for there subscribers.
Good luck with finding ANY provider that follows/respects any sort of game/software release schedule.

For you, WOW may be important. for someone else it may be gear of war, team fortress, call of duty, what have you...

You're just being an unreasonable grump.

Some of you are seriously overreacting, take a step back and breath Count yourself lucky we even get notification with Teksavvy about maintenance. Most of these maintenances aren't even that bad, you'll get a few 5min blips within the window. Besides, for all we know, this could be a scheduled maintenance decided by Bell >

Can you even play at midnight? Imagine the hordes of addicts like yourselves all trying to play all at once... Its probably gonna be a lagfest...

Besides, these maintenance events usually dont even last the entire time.

I have been playing this game as a hardcore raider for years, I have completed ALL content in the game(which most of WoW's population havent even seen), am in THE highest ranked guild on my server, and spend YEARS working to get here. It's not just a game.. it's a hobbie/past time, lifestyle, and yes, even an addiction I admit.

By the time this maintenance was supposed to be over, I would've been well on my way to 73, and instead, I wont have even stepped foot in Northrend. Considering my guild is on a strict schedule to make 80 and get raid ready, this is a big deal to me. Sorry if you casual players cant understand that

Edit: And yes, the servers should be up, and if not, blizzard will be working there butts of to make sure it's at least semi-playable considering THEY are the ones pushing the midnight launch.

Try to find a service that allows DSL logins. (you dont need to cancel Teksavvy...and honestly, it's stupid to do so over this).

Try Anac... see if they offer DSL logins.

Holy shit... go to an internet cafe or something... steal some wireless... frig... stop crying already...

It's a RESIDENTIAL SERVICE that costs $30/month. there is no uptime guarantee whatsoever. They have to do maintenance sometime.

If they did it the day day after release, you'd whine that you couldn't play your brand new game that you just got the day before... sheesh...

Stop raising my blood pressure, lol...

Actually, I have a Lovely wife (who as I stated also plays WoW) as well as a 10yr old son (who shares his account with his Mother). Just because I spend my time playing World of Warcraft instead of watching football, or some other past time, doesnt mean I have no life.

Oh and HiVolt, no one is making you read this post, I am simply replying with my opinions, and in a rather polite manner I might add.. I havent bashed anyone, or resorted to name calling, dispite the responces I've gotten.
