Oh wow, such big companies!

Well, Until they agree to let a national ISP like MSN (like that would ever happen) use their connections, then this is all trying to get the least competitive small companies they can get to satisfy their merger conditions.

Granted I don't live in those areas, so don't know how large they are, but they are all local/regional at best.

The exception being Earthlink.

true, but as the article states, that agreement was in place before any of the merger...
