Constant inconsistency. Everyday download speeds can run between ~3500 up to a very satisfactory ~16000. Sackville NB WHY? I can feel for you...I am in Truro and I have been told by the tech support guys at Eastlink that I should expect 6 to 9 megs at the prime times of day and 12 to 15 at off hours. So basically I have a great connection if I am a night owl and a mediocre one at all other times!! BTW...Eastlink is coming out with a 20 meg service in the spring...just firming things up with Comcast stateside right now. It sounds like maybe an improvement may be in the works but I'm sure at a price. Maybe we will have 15 meg service by then...lol. Also my modem speed is down from Friday so maybe there is a small network problem with my area. |

 | reply to willy37 Thanks, Zebra3. I see your (their) point. But this is the Maritimes--not Toronto or New York. Is everybody downloading movies and music? Not in my neighbourhood, believe me. Willy37 |

Well....supposedly the torrent users are throttled back to a near dial-up connections as soon as the system relealizes what they are doing so as to not use up all the bandwidth that is available on that node. If this is true then we should never see dramatic fluctuations in signal strength. Upon reading my modem this morning I see I am back 9.5db so all is well again...lol....for now! |
