ISP's that don't throttle and have their own equipment. LIST So I'm trying to make a list of the Ontario and Quebec ISP's that have their own equipment and don't throttle.
So far I only see the following. Can anyone add to it or add area's served etc.
www.wightman.ca, Ontario Mount Forest Harriston Listowel Palmerston ====================================
Primus, Ontario, (QC?) Area's with their own equipment: ====================================
Colba, Quebec. Area's: ADSL2+ Atwater area? ====================================
Peterborough, ON, ISP (don't remember the name of the ISP) ADSL2+ ====================================
VDN (A bell company), Quebec 10-meg fiber. ADSL2+? Area's: Ville Marie Area.
Feel free to add to this. Should videotron be added since they don't throttle or have a forced throttle?
I'm not looking for anyones comment on these companies or their experience. So leave that crap out.

Nexicom also offers ADSL2+ in Millbrook, Cavan, and Keene areas on both host and remote.
Are you looking for fixed broadband wireless information as well that is unthrottled or focusing only on ADSL? |

no, not just adsl.
I'm not looking for ISP's that have a throttle work-around either. We already know the ISP's who have a throttle work-around.
This also gives some insight to some lesser known ISP's who do have their own equipment in place and are not affected by the likes of the Bell or Rogers throttle. Like nexicom, wightman etc. |

The wireless (for Nexicom) is difficult to describe. Location areas are as follows (there's other locations but our internal names won't help): Anstruther Lake, Apsley, Belmont Lake, Bridgenorth, Buckhorn, Buckhorn Lake (Deer Bay) region, Catchacoma Area, Centre Dummer, Chandos Lake, Douro, Ennismore, Gannon's Narrows, Jack's Lake, Kasshabog Lake, Lakefield, Nephton, Pigeon Lake, Smith-Ennismore, Stoney Lake, Warsaw, Whitney, and Young's Point. Map showing the wireless locations is at » www.nexicom.net/resident ··· wers.pdf if that helps... |

And best of all, people will respect you since you since they'll know you. |

ty for the info pstewart. Its appreciated.
I never knew nexicom had any wireless services that were unthrottled. So thats good to know.
I bet many people didn't know.
I see where you guys are coming from with the anon thing. But i've been posting anon for some years. I just won't change.
I know some people equate anon with troll. I have nothing to prove, hide or ask for any type of respect. Its just the way I prefer it. I don't mean any disrespect by being anon.
Thanks again for the contributions, and I hope people continue contributing. |

You can add Look communication Wireless mmds internet. They don't throttle or caps the connection.
They are available for an average of 20km around Mount royal tower in montreal, maybe in Quebec city and Ottawa too.
They offer (true speed, not sync speed): 3000kbps/640kbps and 1500kbps/400kbps -- Connection: Teksavvy 12000/1600 2 line in mlppp - premium www.Globaltuners.com Remotely controled Radio scanner

Yes, Wightman has their own DSLAM's co-located in some Bell CO's. They also do Fibre To The Home in some locations (not Orangeville). |

So far these are the area's where the following ISP's have their own equipment in place and are NOT affected by the Bell or Rogers throttle. ==================================== wightman Telecom www.wightman.ca, Locations: Ontario Mount Forest Harriston Listowel Palmerston Plus other area's. Offers fiber to the home (FTTH) ==================================== Primus, Ontario and Quebec Locations:: We don't have much info here on the area's not throttled and where they have their own equipment. I think I recall reading that this may be in area's where they have a double or triple play bundles. ==================================== Colba, Quebec ADSL2+ Locations: Montreal ==================================== Nexicom, Ontario ADSL2+, Cable and wireless ADSL2+ Locations: Peterborough, Millbrook, Cavan, and Keene areas Cable Locations: Lakefield and Bridgenorth. Wireless Locations: Anstruther Lake, Apsley, Belmont Lake, Bridgenorth, Buckhorn, Buckhorn Lake (Deer Bay) region, Catchacoma Area, Centre Dummer, Chandos Lake, Douro, Ennismore, Gannon's Narrows, Jack's Lake, Kasshabog Lake, Lakefield, Nephton, Pigeon Lake, Smith-Ennismore, Stoney Lake, Warsaw, Whitney, and Young's Point. Other area's as well. Wireless map locations: » www.nexicom.net/resident ··· wers.pdf==================================== VDN (bought by Bell Canada), Quebec 10-meg fiber. ADSL2+? Locations: Ville Marie Area, MOntreal, Alexis neon area, Nuns Island?? ==================================== Look communications, Quebec and Ontario Wireless Locations: Montreal, Ottawa, maybe area's in QC city. ==================================== Mini Sans Fil, Quebec www.minisansfil.com Wireless. Locations: Quebec City area ==================================== For the sake of arguement, and to prevent arguements (basically I'm hoping to prevent a future arguement) the following ISP's don't have their own Dslam/equipment installed (yet) and are affected by the Bell or Rogers throttle, but they have a work around to by-pass the throttle. The method to by-pass the throttle can one day be throttled or the forthcoming CRTC decision on the throttle can give Bell/Rogers the right to force them to remove this throttle by-pass. TekSavvy Solutions Inc. Locations: ONtario and Quebec Standard ADSL which supports MLPPP for bonding two or more lines together and the MLPP support by-passes the throttle on either mutli-bonded lines and regular single DSL lines. Acanac Inc. Locations: ONtario and Quebec Standard ADSL. An SSH by-pass in functional, but reports indicate its not foolproof and some report a throttle anyhow. There is a Rogers Cable reseller that isn't throttled, but heard they reduce your speed once you hit 60-gigs in B/W. I don't recall the name of this ISP. If anyone knows this ISP please add it. ==================================== The following cable companies have no throttle, but do have an strongly enforced B/W cap. Electronic box (Ebox): Locations: Quebec a videotron Cable reseller, 7-meg around a 300-gig cap (not sure) Videotron Locations: Quebec Very low cap unless you take the 10-meg service which is cap'd at 100-gigs total. ==================================== Thanks for everyones involvement and for keeping your experiences, price and other garbage out of it. People can call the above ISP's or make another topic on the specifics. I honestly didn't think this topic would go over well w/o people inputting garbage, but so far it has. I'm pleasantly surprised. Thanks. I'm sure there are other ISP's out there that we can add to this list. If you have any info, or care to add a comment to fix the above list up, feel free to contribute. Thanks again for all your input so far. Please continue to contribute. |

I'm in one of the areas where Primus has their own CO. You'd be better off being throttled in a BELL CO. I get ~500kbps during peek hours ~6h00pm to ~1h30am during weekdays and on the weekend I get 500kbps during most of the day. Can't stream internet radio and YouTube is awfully slow... forget downloads.
I've called numerous times before they finally confirmed that they have congested networks. |

That ISP is 3web...it sucks but it isn't throttled.
And as I mentioned in an earlier post LOOK communications offers wireless in Toronto too. |

MNSI in Windsor and area as well as London should be looked at as well. Like Nexicom they have some of their own remotes that are unfiltered but their Bell remotes are like everyone else (depends where you are and what your exchange is I am assuming). |

MNSi offers unthrottled service to MOST people in Windsor (ON), London (ON), LaSalle (ON), Tecumseh (ON), Chatham (ON), and Sarnia (ON).
Unfortunately, people served from a remote are out of luck for now. |
