As mentioned previously by anon23424, Adblock added to Mozilla Firefox removes the advertising on the right hand side bar but a large blank unusable area still takes up the message viewing area of your screen each time you check a new message. Greasemonkey+Platypus toolbar will get rid of any extra space and pretty much let you customize any webpage. |

| Not that I'm taking sides with Roges, however, what many of you don't realize, is that, as a subscriber to Rogers HiSpeed, you're not paying for the use of Rogers Yahoo! webmail. Webmail is included free-of-charge. You are paying only for HiSpeed service. Rogers does not provide you with mail service. Rogers provides you with access to the Internet for a monthly fee, Yahoo! has included free-of-charge the use of webmail service and other services, including Flickr, as per the co-branded amalgamation between Rogers and Yahoo! in 2004.
In mid 2008 Rogers send out newsletters to all subscribers announcing that there would be changes to the name brand, i.e. Rogers Yahoo! now changed to Rogers HiSpeed. While certain aspects of Rogers and Yahoo! remain co-branded, they each maintain their own separate identity. Your HiSpeed Internet service is provided by Rogers, webmail is included free-of-charge by Yahoo! (the co-branded aspect of Rogers Yahoo!)
In terms of dealing with the recent advertisements that Rogers and Yahoo! have jointly introduced to the Rogers Yahoo! mail service, Outlook Express / Windows Mail is an option for dealing with these in-line advertisements; as well, the use of an alternate web based email providers, such as, Windows Live Hotmail, Gmail, GMX.com, Yahoo! whereby you pay a yearly fee and avoid in-line advertisements altogether. You have an email address for life and not have the added concern of changing email addresses should you terminate your service with your ISP.
Everyone is lashing out at Rogers and fails to realize that this decision to introduce advertising to the Rogers Yahoo! mail service is a joint decision between Rogers and Yahoo! Rogers is not entirely at to blame. Yahoo! has to share the blunt of the blame. Rogers provides only to the customer a connection to the Internet, Yahoo! provides free-of-charge your web mail and other services within the Yahoo! domain. |

| reply to kliles It's still got Rogers name; I pay my bill to Rogers; Rogers includes email as a part of the service, however it is branded. This is a part of what DPI is for ... to target the advertising.
So, the complaints still go to Rogers even if they deny that we pay for it. After all, Rogers Yahoo! give us Launchcast Plus as opposed to Launchcast. |

Will this remove the box completely, so that my main window is stretched the full width of my browser? I can get Platypus to remove the add, but I'm left with the blank box. Perhaps you'd be able to post your greasemonkey script?
Thanks |

1 edit | reply to kliles Sent an email into Rogers about this tonight(see below), have to wait and see what their reply is:
Dear Sir or Madam;
I am emailing you with regards to the recent changes to the Rogers Yahoo Webmail.
I would like to express my utter disgust with the recent addition of advertising frames to the Rogers Yahoo! Webmail service. As a customer of Rogers Hi Speed Internet Extreme I am paying Rogers $54.95/month every month for this service. This is a premium service - and as a premium service subscriber I should not be subjected to any form of advertising. This is not a service such as Hotmail or GMail where the service is provided for free and relies on the advertising to be able to provide this service so I cannot fathom why this is now the case with Rogers Yahoo mail.
As a paying customer of this service, I would like a full explanation as to why this was implemented. The addition of these advertisements are of absolutely no value to me and I am not seeing anything returned to me as a result of the extra revenues being generated by this advertising.
Regards, |

Webmail is included free-of-charge. I have to disagree here... Rogers Yahoo! has advertised the Yahoo Plus mail benefits. if it were FREE yahoo mail, we would not have access to POP3, throw-away email addresses and more.
In fact, have a look at this page where Rogers and Yahoo! themselves ADVERTISE that their mail service is AD-FREE:
»help.yahoo.com/l/ca/rogers/mail/···-44.html
"Enjoy an uncluttered Mail experience, with no graphical ads"
There are plenty of more examples out there if you care to look for them.
I'm not taking sides... I'm just sayin... |

Good ole Rogers, the just recently changed the wording on this link to remove the 4th point about an ad free webmail experience:
help.yahoo.com/l/ca/rogers/mail/···-44.html
I copy/pasted it in to my complain with the CCTS. It was listed on their site when I ordered their service, I expect them to continue to offer it as they never let their customers out of contact committments. |

Rogers has some very good lawyers on staff that write these contracts. They are VERY one sided.
Essentially Rogers can do what the F they want, and you have no say. In fact if you read the TOS, they don't even have to provide you with service , and you stil have to pay them.
Good luck, I suspect this is going NOWHERE |

| reply to kliles I ponied up the 20 bucks per year for mail plus with no ads. Rogers did not win because at the same time I canceled my 35 dollar per month cell phone. I only kept it for emergencies and I figured if they nickel and dime me then it was time to take some of my dimes back.
Cancel your services, that is the only way your voice will be heard. |

Cancel your services, that is the only way your voice will be heard. Friends of mine in Brampton attempted to cancel their cells phones with Rogers and Rogers would allow them, saying they were on contract until December 2009. If they cancelled Rogers would charge them $200.00 for breaking the contract. |

| Ya, I broke-down last night and paid the 20 bucks to make the ads go away.
Right after I called Rogers Wireless and cancelled my cell phone which I had for 6 years at a cost of 34 bucks per month. I am going to go with PC Mobile pay as you go.
I was also thinking of getting Rogers Home Phone, but they can forget about that now. |
