Many users here?

How have you liked the G1 so far?

I tried it, and like it.
I only wish that it was available for that price on AT&T.

AT&T: Tilt (old) = $199 after rebates
AT&T: Fuze (new) = $299 after rebates
T-Mobile: G1 = $175 after rebates

If only the Fuze had a decent sized screen like the G1 or iPhone

Tilt: 320x240 = 2.8" screen
Fuze: 640x480 = 2.8" screen
G1: 320x480 = 3.2" screen
iPhone: 320x480 = 3.5" screen

I didn't realize the Fuze had a much higher resolution yet smaller screen. Those must be some pretty small pixels.

Yeah - kinda sad.
When I looked at the phone - its a bit like a brick, the screen looked kind of small, especially when I had an iPhone next to it.
Small pixels - makes all the images look real sharp, however, since the screen is so small, you wouldn't notice much anyways. Same screen size as tilt (physically), 4x the pixels (2x each direction).

Got 2 of them (one for me and one for girlfriend.)

Love them and I did play with a friend's iPhone. I found the G1 to be a lot more customizable.

Although the iPhone apps are more mature, Android is in its infancy and will grow with time.

Thanks for chiming in. I never heard much after so I was curious as to how it was.

Right now, all the apps are free but I think that will change.

Some of the apps are pretty good but some show the old freeware/shareware feel of not being quite done.

One of the best is ShopSavy which allows you to scan a barcode with the camera and search online for the best price but it also depends on the product. I scanned 2 things in Costco last night (1TB WD external drive and an HP system) that it couldn't find but that might be because the warehouse stores usually have their own products not normally sold in retail stores.

Battery life is not great but I attribute that to playing around with it all day with all the bells and whistles turned on.

I'm really happy with my G1 and it's by far the best phone I've owned. Makes my old (Windows Mobile 6) Shadow feel like a dinosaur in comparison. T-Mobile's 3G service is seems very snappy and I constantly get over 1mb download speeds on speed tests. My only real gripe is that there is no on screen keyboard for sending quick text messages, though I've heard that is in development.

I carry a tilt. I like it, end to end.

My only complaints:
400MHz processor - underpowered
Not enough ram.
Missing alt, ctrl, home, and end keys.

But I can modify the snot out of the thing, and that makes up for a lot. So does WiFi, 3g AND GPS; with nothing locked out by AT&T.

Nonsense - it's just the *&^%$ Windows Mobile Pro and its laughably stupid, inefficient crappy architecture.

See above. Windows Mobile sucks when it comes to resource management, period.

I agree. I have a HTC Hermes (retail w/ front 2nd camera etc.) and I still use it with custom ROMs and it's a terrific device - too bad there's no Android for this.

I enjoy the zillions of apps and mods available for Windows Mobile.
BUT! I also HATE the stuttering, the instability, the "signature" slowdowns of EVERY Windows Mobile OS (WM Pro 6.1 still sucks big time) and while I admire the otherwise dumb, crippled OS(X) of iTard phones for being very snappy, I have to say G1's Android is so far the best of both worlds out there: VERY SNAPPY (easily on-pair with iTard) UI, excellent resource management, now with the dev version out there you can load ANY app, sleek design etc.
What still holds me back is the lack of stereo BT (A2DP) and the 2-year contract (retail price is a joke).

For Apple Android's arrival is very bad news - iTard just started making a dent on the world market then a free, very-well thought out, just as snappy open-source OS arrives, giving HTC, Samsung and all ther smartphone makers an entire platform for nothing, essentially reducing Apple'sadvantage over Windows Mobile (or Symbian, for that record) in OS features to zero...
Dunno but the increased competition in the Android camp will put a heavy downward pressure on the prices in 2009 and Apple will have to not only fix iTard's ridiculous problems very quickly but also start selling it in retail for a lot less otherwise they will quickly become just-another-phone, similarly like desktop Macs recently became almost irrelevant on the market (see latest ~40% drop in Mac desktop sales when PC sales or even Macbook sales numbers are up).

[BQUOTE=[user=bicker]]Waaaa waaaa waaaa. You just want what you want and don't care to factor in what is right or true. Your perspectives are un-American, and deserve far more ridicule than I'm prepared to pile on them.
