Some of the apps are pretty good but some show the old freeware/shareware feel of not being quite done. One of the best is ShopSavy which allows you to scan a barcode with the camera and search online for the best price but it also depends on the product. I scanned 2 things in Costco last night (1TB WD external drive and an HP system) that it couldn't find but that might be because the warehouse stores usually have their own products not normally sold in retail stores. Battery life is not great but I attribute that to playing around with it all day with all the bells and whistles turned on.
