Line Stats 101

So....

I've been a member here for some time.
At best, I suppose I could be called an enthusiast,
as I do not have an occupation that actually requires in depth tech knowledge.

Prior to joining the ranks of the teksavvy faithful, my knowledge of DSL was slim to none.

Presently - I guess you can't say I'm a noob, but I can't say that I'm super on the ball either.

Honestly - half the stuff mentioned here is way over my head, which is expected, as I imagine that most of the regulars here are people that work in a field that requires this type of knowledge.

In any case - Would love to learn more about how my DSL connection is working, and more importantly, the best way to tweak it. Is anyone here willing to help me learn about this?

I'm using a 2wire modem (the ones everyone purchased for cheap) in bridge mode, connected to a Linksys WRTSL54GS running Tomato/MLPPP Version 1.19-mp2.

Would like to post my line stats, but not certain where to find that....

I recently ran a speed test (nothing else running) with the following results:

All in all, it seems like a crappy score!

Anyways - would appreciate some advice/help....

Re: Line Stats 101

- Connect a computer to the 2Wire.
- Give it an IP such that using a web browser it can connect to 192.168.1.254
- go to »192.168.1.254/management/
There's a password reset system somewhere if you've forgotten it
- click on DSL Diagnostics

Note: there's a whole bunch of 2wire versions and firmwares, so these instructions could fail. I'd suggest you search online base on the problem. There are several guides.
