Creative cards have the ability to redirect what comes out of your speakers right to the microphone for easy recording. It could be that this option is selected.

Thanks. I believe this may be my problem. Here is what I did. I'll test it later this evening.

Right-click on your little speaker icon, select "Recording Devices", select "Microphone", then click "Set Default".
