I agree with your last point about using the analog outs.

The only issue I have is all the current satellites only have spring clips and not mini jacks. So, I'm not sure how I would wire them up. I wonder if I can get minijacks on one end and wire on the other. I suppose I could just buy some long mini jack cables and strip off one end and assume that the striped wire is red/positive.

another Sunday afternoon project. I guess that's one of the perils of doing a full system upgrade/replacement.
