AT&T is dumping Wimax in Nevada

We have had AT&T Wimax here in Pahrump, NV (outside of Las Vegas) for the last two years, and they are pulling the plug on it as of 12/31/08, replacing it with DSL. AT&T has been busy adding RT's all around town. All I can say after having both, is that under AT&T implementation, there is no comparison, Wimax was very, very slow, but it still did beat the alternative...

If you had WiMAX for the past 2 years it wasn't the IEEE 802.16e-based WiMAX gear but was based on the older 802.16d "fixed" standard.
