magicjack.ca not supporting customers who purchased elsewher

I have spent all morning on the phone with both magicjack.ca and magicjack.com.I purchased my magicjack through a Canadian Electronics Distributor that I have been doing business with for the last several years, top notch company. I was informed this morning by magicjack.ca that they would not support customers that did not purchase magicjack through them. I was also told that the Distributor that I purchased my magicjack through were, quote" a-holes that sell junk!". In 25 years of doing business in Canada I have never come accross a "business" and I use this term very loosely, that did nothing other than bad mouth their competition. With an attitude like this I truly feel that their chances of success in business is "NILL". After my very disheartening conversation with magicjack.ca I called magicjack.com to see if I could get support from them, which they were more than happy to do. I was informed that magicjack.ca was an "independent" and that magicjack.com had nothing really to do with them. I was also given an application so that my business could access this product to resell to my customer base as well as any new clientele. I will be informing my customer base today about this situation with magicjack.ca and my recommendation for support. To anyone out there that is considering the purchase of a "magicjack", please do your homework. A simple call to magicjack.ca will convince most people that this is not a company that they want to do business with. This is a great product that deserves proper representation, for further info contact, '»magicjack.com' ..........Sincerely, Paul G., all wired Up!

What phone number did you use to talk to MagicJack.com. You are one of the few people that seem to have spoken to a live person at the company. Thanks forthe info.

Impressive ... but not likely, since there is no telephone support for MagicJack (the real MJ in the US, not the Canadian reseller magicjack.ca).

Not a surprise since magicjack.ca is a reseller, not a corporate branch of the US company. Had you done your homework, you would have seen posts in the BBR Forums reporting that magicjack.ca only supports (poorly) customers who have purchased the MJ kit through them. »Canadian Area Codes Are Here. Why would you expect one reseller to support another reseller's offering?

Not likely --- as I noted above --- since MJ (US) does not have phone support.

This is true --- and you too can become a MJ reseller just by ordering a supply of MJ kits and then selling them to friends and family.

Did you follow your own advice ... or did the dog eat your homework?

Surely you jest (and I'm not calling you Shirley). Out of 21 VoIP providers listed in the BBR VoIP Reviews »/gbu MJ is second from the bottom. You certainly did not do your homework!

As is well known, the real MagicJack folks do not have phone support.

This was probably a mixup. The OP was mistakenly connected to "Magic Jack", the hero of the story "Jack and the Beanstalk".

Now, contrary to the story as often told by the Brothers Grimm, or by others such as Joseph Jacobs, Charles Ludlam, or Abbott and Costello in their 1952 film, there were actually 12 magic beans.

And actually, they were not magic beans, but magic eggs. A dozen magical eggs.

As is well known, Jack's mother tossed three (3) of the Magic Eggs out the window. Being that they were radioactive eggs, this led to the growth of the mutant beanstalk.

As we all know, "Magic Jack" subsequently had to escape from the Giant, who chased him while yelling:

Fee! Fie! Foe! Foip!
That boy may know too much about VoIP!
Be he alive, or be he departed,
I'll grind his voxbones so his telco won't get started!

But Jack in fact did know about VoIP. And he wisely had saved the other Magic Eggs. He said that he was saving those nine eggs for the future. Nine eggs for the future. Nine for the future. If only he could think of a name for his company!

I have had a Magic Jack for several months and am very happy with it. I ordered from Magic Jack.com and they were true to there word and gave me 30 days free trial. When the MJ quit working I contacted them thru the web site and got a voice conversation and they were very helpful. When they finally decided that the product was faulty they sent out a new one and gave me a return application by e mail to send the faulty product back. Magicjack.ca is just a distributor for magicjack.com so I would suggest for the best service deal only with the .com site

You might strongly consider creating a different operating company with a different name to distribute that product. Should MJ collapse, your "clientele" will be looking to you for redress. If you put all the strength and assets of the existing business behind the MJ business, your net worth and business reputation could be seriously compromised through no fault of your own. Be prepared to respond to: "you sold me this crap and won't stand behind it so I'm not doing business with you for anything else." Here in the US, the retail chain Radio Shack picked up MJ recently ... it will be interesting to see if they are still pitching the product in February, or if they start selling it with disclaimers.

That could be another explanation for the "5-year" buyers getting the fifth year. I can just see the CEO of Radio Shack calling Dat's-Da-Deal Dan after a high (and unusually angry) return rate.

I can only imagine that conversation:

said by Radio Shack & MJ :

Julian: "But, Dan, you can't do that."
Dan: "Fah-gettaboudit..."
Julian: "But, Dan, people didn't know until they redeemed the code."
Dan: "Dat's da deal."
Julian: "But, Dan, they couldn't get a refund because they already redeemed the code."
Dan: "Dat's da deal. It's a beautiful ting, ain it?"

MAGIC JACK as very very good when i 1st got it almost 2 years ago,i had NO problems everything worked just fine.
Then about 6 months ago my calls start chopping up bad!
I called the company got text support did everything i could to make it better, because i admire a company charging a low rate for a bill that is very much needed in this economy.
Well I never realized that my TIME WARNER/COMCAST modem became outdated, having the modem for about 7 years I thought it would be fine-I WAS SOOO WRONG.
My internet was so bad i could barely watch u-tube videos(and i am paying 50 dollars a month plus tax ect.....
I finally broke down and had the Comcast guy (to come in my home which i hate) come in and replace my internet modem.

THAT IS ALL IT IS PEOPLE,my MAGICJACK is back and i can hear everything again. I don't have to feel bad about referring people now!
THIS IS A GREAT day(except for Betty Page passing, very sad day for millions of people)

HOW OLD IS YOUR MODEM?

Has the pricing on the Mj for resellers gotten any better? When I obtained pricing 6 months ago it didn't seem very good. What is it presently?
