| Slow Service with Surge Protector
I just got DSL after being on satellite for years. I bench tested all the DSL equipment with my router to make sure I was going to be able to get my 3 Mb speed before tearing out the satellite modem. Everything looked and worked great according to several speed test sites.
So, I remove all the satellite equipment and install the new DSL modem and rewire my network. Connectivity is good. However, I notice my download speeds have dropped from 2.7 Mb to 1.3 Mb, but the upload speed stays the same. The only difference between this setup and the bench test is the phone line for the DSL is now going through the surge protection port on a brand new Belkin UPS.
I bypass the surge protection and BAM, download speed is back to 2.8 Mb.
Anyone know what's up with this? |
