DOCSIS 3.0 in Oregon and Southwest Washington in Dec '08

That will be interesting, rseiler. I have heard a few things in regard to that market from whisperings behind the scenes. Last in that regard, for that market, was on or after December 22, 2008.
Thanks for ruining my day with facts! If I wanted to live in reality, I wouldn't be on the Internet, would I?

Anyway, Comcast backs you up, as far as December is concerned (let's hope they don't wait until almost Christmas). And Washington state gets to join in the fun along with Oregon, as is usually the case with upgrades.

The rumors are fun, but sometimes there is a space of time between completion of the work by the network staff and when marketing is ready to announce the actual rollout, I think. In this case, from what I've heard, the news is going public more quickly than I dared hope.

From a project planning perspective, including this week there is really only about 4 more usable weeks between now and the end of year with all the various different holidays coming up. My guess is there will be one, maybe two, more announcements for this year and the rest will be for 2009. Realistically, the bulk of the work has probably already been done for those markets and its a matter of finalizing at this point.

I don't know the demographics of the various markets, but their original statement stated DS 3.0 would be rolled out to 20% of their customers by the end of 2008 if I remember correctly. Considering the actual market announcements are coming out in the last quarter, it will be interesting to see if they make that goal, but I wouldn't hesitate to put a bit of money on yes being the answer.
