Two physical lines are required for MLPPP, two modems too.
You do not need two lines to use MLPPP. You don't even need a router, you can run it in XP with checking use multiple link or some crap. you only need two lines if you want to BOND two lines..

Since the question is about BONDED LINES, two or more physical lines are required. It's hard to bond one line to nothing.

I should have phrased it better in my response, but I was responding to the question asked about bonding lines. MLPPP works in single link or multiple links, but to bond using MLPPP you need physical lines for each link.
