DTV test on all PA stations on 11/17

KYW had a neat live feed from master control as they went to the test at 6:25PM this evening.

You could easily see all of their broadcast control equipment close up, a couple HD routers, one labeled "Comcast SD switcher" one labeled "Comcast HD switcher", among other important looking equipment. They had everything programmed into one button labeled "test" and they just hit it and the analog signal was interrupted with the messsage.

There was also a permanent sticky with a phone number labeled "Comcast cable trouble #" along with a pager number. I wonder who that number dispatches, lol. The number was easily readable when pausing the DVR.

Each station created their own video message but they all said the same text, if you are reading this you need to take action, blah blah. A quick surf up the analog dial and I saw a similar message on all the Philly stations: 3,6,10,17,29,35,48,57,65.

Definetly a good idea to do a test like this, they are really starting to get the message out even more aggresivly. Yet some people still brush it off, hopefully some saw that message and said oh I guess we do need to do something about this thing.

This was interesting last night. I noticed that channel 12(WHYY) in Philly did not take part. I wanted to see if the one analog channel we have here in Philly(Ch 97) still works? Someone said they use this channel for people that have the TV Guide Onscreen guide inside their TV's

WHYY is technically licensed to Wilmington in the state of Delaware, and thus was not required to participate in the test of TV stations in the state of PA. At least I think that's why they didn't participate.
