You don't need an expensive meter to check how much the pump is using.

If it's a hard wired device, like most pumps are, just use a clamp meter to measure the number of amps that it's using and then multiply that by the voltage.

You can buy a cheap one for under $20 on ebay.

You can get a new one off of Amazon for around $30.

Check your local hardware store to see if they have them.

That's a good idea. Can I leave that clamp meter on permanently so she can see it for herself?
