Just curious about how much people have paid to get a second line installed in their house and setup to run MLPPP.
Also what is the total monthly cost of have a 2 link MLPPP setup?
Thanks. |

Well, the typical cost of a second line is $30/month for the DSL, and then the band rate fee, because most households do not have two active analog land lines. Band rate is basically a maintenance fee paid to Bell to use the copper line for DSL, if there is no phone service on it... Typical band rate for most users in urban areas is $7-10. -- GO LEAFS GO! |

Also what is the total monthly cost of have a 2 link MLPPP setup? Thanks. I just did this two weeks ago. I had to buy a WRT54GL router for $46.99 from Direct Canada, and a 2nd ADSL modem for $78 (you may be able to find a cheaper modem). The line setup cost is $19.99 to TSI (that covers Bell coming to hook up the line). If your home has relatively new wiring you can hook up the wall jack very easily yourself for free. Otherwise, the tech may do your wall jack for you for free if you're lucky. If you need to contract out for the wall jack installation it's about $120 I hear. Then you just pay TSI for your second line: $29.99 plus dry loop band fee (most likely $7.25/month) for premium 200GB cap or $39.99 plus dry loop band fee for unlimited. After it's setup you can call and ask them to combine your bills / lines so you just get 1 bill every month and you bandwidth cap (if any) is combined. |

| Thanks for the help HiVolt and ultracat.
I just have one more question about the 2nd line wall jack. The electrical and wiring entry point to my home is in the front of the house. My office where my computer and router and modem is located in the back of the house. The basement of my house is fully finished and I am curious to see if anyone has ideas as to how the techs can install the 2nd line wall jack in my office. I assume they will need to somehow run a wire from the electrical entry point to the office and how is that done with a drywalled ceiling in the basement?
Thanks for the help in answering my questions. |
