It's only illegal if they collude to price fix. Companies can partner and agree to offer the same product. They just can't agree to the same product and same price.

isn't this kinda illegal, it make me think of the oil compagny (ultramar..etc) in the Sherbrooke region, that were calling each other up to fix gas price
they would raise their price all at the same time for a predetermined price, now they are facing the justice,
i think ultramar pleaded guilty |

But when I went through it i didn't see any reference to this.
Would be nice to know to put the warning out there to those even thinking of leaving for a wholesaler. They don't have much time to make the switch before its too late.
Videotron pulled this exact same manouver (almost) on its resellers just a couple of months ago. They filed with the crtc and the crtc didn't get one complaint and allowed it. No one knew! Just another obscure filing that went unnoticed, but had big effects. |

My understanding was it only applied to 5m service IF ISP's agreed to an agreement for ADSL2+.
The ISP's all told bell to stuff it, and now has been on the back burner due to the throttle issue. |

yeah there was a meeting last summer about this. I recall Rocky missed it because he was away on business.
I recall Paul from Acanac posted the minutes or notes (or something) of the meeting they had with Bell that Rocky missed in the CDN broadband forum last summer.
Specifically it affected the 5-meg service.
The adsl2+ services were another B/W limit that would be the same as Bell's.
It was two different things.
I'll see if i can find it... I don't have much luck with the search feature of this forum. |

I think this was just during talks with the wholesalers, with regards to bell opening up ADSL2+ to the wholesalers. They wanted UBB, and were told to stuff it...
I don't think it has anything to do with the current service we get under the GAS tariff (ADSL1).

| so I was reading this TekSavvy topic »Upgrades... What's next... and it sort of reminded me of what Bell promised to do.
Back in the summer Bell promised to do the following to the wholesalers:
The 5Mbps service will be limited to 60GB per month.
The 512Kbps service will be limited to 2GB per month.
They will charge the wholesaler (or was it customer) for B/W used after 60-gigs. Cost was not specified.
Its not supposed to affect current wholesale customers, but will affect new customers (so Bell said).
Its supposed to be in effect by Jan, 2009.
Now Bell has to submitt this to the CRTC.
So have they done this already?
Is anyone at TekSavvy keeping on top of CRTC filings and keeping an eye out for this?
