2 edits | reply to Stewy I went and bought my copy of HL1 the week it came out during lunchbreak at highschool. I ended up skipping that afternoon and playing until 2am and then skipped the entire next day to revel in its awesomeness. Good times Black Mesa: Source is going to be one of the greatest things ever made if it is ever released. Check out »www.blackmesasource.com/ to read the update they posted yesterday, in it they confirm that the project has been converted to the Orange Box version of Source. There are also a TON of new screenshots in the Media section.

1 edit | reply to Jim Gurd said by Jim Gurd :said by VegasMan :I gave up playing after spending weeks trying to blow up the damn baby at the end, I got too pissed off since I refused to cheat. Hit him enough times that his head pops open, then get up high and hit him directly in the brain. That will do him in. I have even been able to jump inside his head and whack him with the crowbar to kill him!! I got the brain exposed I always ran out of enough ammo to kill him or don't have enough time to kill him with the crowbar before the floating balls hit me.
I downloaded last night and just ran through the training course again. It's nice not having to wait on loads when you enter different parts of the game.
My wife is going to feel abandoned for a few weeks. -- In need of a Vegas vacation.

| I got all the official sequals as well.
Opposing force I liked alot. Blue shift I wasn't as excited to play, but it was still fun.
What was the name of the game that was built on the HL engine that had you packing pistols in a space western? I can't remember the name, though the storyline was pretty enjoyable. |

"We are currently experiencing an extremely high server load. The website will return shortly!"
when I go to the the BMS site now. |

| reply to Stewy I was a latecomer myself. I had never even heard of Half-Life until mid 2000, when I was at work chatting with one of my coworkers about games. He told me about Half-life, and brought his copy in for me, along with a strategy guide. I never got around to returning it, and he left the company without ever asking for it back. I'm not sure if he intended for me to keep it or not, but I guess it's mine now.
This was definitely a game that was ahead of its time. As someone else pointed out, it had a story line, unlike most games at that time. Also, it ran under Windows, when a lot of games were still DOS-based. And more importantly, after 10 years, it still runs on most systems, without having to jump thru all sorts of hoops and tweak all kinds of settings. My only complaint is that after 10 years, you'd think they would have fixed that annoying "stuck in the floor" bug.
While I thought this game was awesome, when HL2 came it, I was completely blown away! Once I had Steam installed, I activated HL1 using the CD Key, which was nice because I didn't have to go looking for update servers anymore. Better yet, Opposing Force became available to me for free at some point (not sure why, maybe it comes with HL1 now), and Blue Shift shortly afterwards.
Sometimes I'll play the whole set back to back, starting with HL1 and ending with Episode 2. Can't wait for Episode 3 to come out! |

| reply to JIGA said by JIGA :I purchased Half Life back in 1999. I remember playing through the whole campaign and what an excellent single player game it was. I thought it was the best thing next to sliced bread! Agree I have my disc around here someplace.. i got tired of playing the demo and picked up the full game. |

| Hey guys with discs... if you have your old cd key for half life or counter strike you cann register it on steam, and get hl1, blue shift, cs, opposing force, hl1 deathmatch, day of defeat, deathmatch classic, and Richochet.
If you don't believe me try it! If it's already used in steam before it won't work. |

I have blue shift but I never installed it same with CS (I hate it) and opposing force.
the funny part was I used to play TF like crazy but after i got it in the HL2 pack it was just meh now..
I tried TF2 but it would be more enjoyable with a faster system. -- It's NOT Ni-kon It's NE-KON!
