Computer display on living room TV

Ok I have an idea I want to exicute in my house.

I want to be able to display my computer on my livingroom tv.

The computer is located in another room away from the livingroom tv.

The TV is a Samsung series 7.

The computer has a videocard with DVI out.

Would it be possible to run a DVI cable into the room with the tv, then attach a DVI to HDMI adapter and go into the tv?
Is there a DVI switch that I could place at my computer which would alow me to chose which room to display in (computer monitor or livingroom TV)

I am sure that my current wireless keyboard and mouse would not have the range from my living room back to the computer room, is there a wireless keyboard and mouse that use RF that would be able to connect back to the office?

You can run a DVI cable from one room to the other. Not sure how good that's going to look, but their are obviously ways to fix that. I don't know what video card you have, but most have two outputs. You could use one for the monitor, and the other for the TV.

There are keyboards that use RF, but going from room to room will likely be difficult and frustrating.

You also might want to consider how you are going to get the audio from the computer into the living room as well; if required.

Personally, the best option is to get a client computer that pulls data from the other room (server) over a network.

Why would running the DVI cable into the living room degrade the video quality? Shouldnt it be the same quality as shown on my monitor using a DVI connection?

What about a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, some research I did points out that bluetooth has pretty good range.

I want to avoid having to deal with a second computer (server) in the living room.

Sound...oh yea...I guess I could do wireless speakers?

Thanks

I have a Microsoft bluetooth keyboard and mouse set up. I've tested it from another room. I haven't tested how far it works.

Did it work fine from the other room? Through walls and all?
Thanks.

I had the computer in my bedroom and I went down the hall and tried it.

As long as you don't have walls of lead you shouldn't have a problem going 20ish feet.

If you had a bluetooth set for your cell phone, you should be able test it with that.
