I got an xbox360 experience for you, how about one that doesn't 3 rings of death on you eventually, I am currently on my 6th machine, when this dies I am done. And will never buy Microsoft again.
After 6 of them, I'd start suspecting the user rather than the hardware.

I agree six dying and you keep going back sounds like a user issue.

Its possible but those things are notorious for dying. I rarely use mine and I'm on my 3rd one. It's kept in a clean environment and is never moved. Just go to fire the thing up and dead. MS threw quality control out the window (no pun intended) just to shove the thing out the door as fast as possible.

My original 360 RRoD'd with only casual use after 2 years. Still on the 2nd one though. 6 is a little ridiculous though.

I've had mine for almost 2 years, casual use and have never seen a single issue with it. Guess I'm lucky...

I have an ORIGINAL first month XBox 360 that is still going strong. I actually just moved it downstairs due to winning a new one with HDMI on it.

Never seen a ring o' death.

Perhaps I'm just unique. I keep it with the other electronics... I have it on a surge protector... I kepe things away from the air holes....

I agree with u on that USER issues i to have a 360 one of the very first ive never ever had any issues i use and intercooler and keep it in the open while playing unlike some ppl that i know who have had issues and they complain. come to find out they keep it in an entertainment center or somewhere enclosed where it doesnt get the correct air flow. So i say USER ERROR

I don't agree. It is poor design that kills them. Don't get me wrong cuz I love my 360s but they are poorly designed hardware. All of them will die...just a matter of time. Only way around it is either fix it yourself or MS does a redesign. Which I don't see happening. I would bet not until the next gen of the xbox.

I have 2 and only one, the first to buy at release, had the problem. Other than that no issues at all.

Out of the 45 in my friend list the max any one had to replace was two, but the norm since to be 1. and a about half never. So 6 is abnormal by all means

I thought the 65nm Falcon chipset and bigger heatsinks was suppose to help

Maybe that has helped, but if you read what MS recommends, they tell you to plug direct to the wall (no surge protector). In any case, you are very lucky (and I hope it continues).

I have bought 3, my son has one and I am on my second one but on this one I have no issues at all and I play it every day. Out of my friends I think 2 had issues but thats it. When I had to return mine I called, next day I had a box delivered to my door with a prepaid label on it and within 10 days of my call I had a new one. For my needs I am very happy and I love all the online features.

I'm buying my little brother's OG (Original Gangsta) 360 from him. He's had it for a good while, no issues.

You must not be familiar with the 360's reliability (or lack there of)...

I know several people that have gone through at least 3 or more systems. Almost everybody I know has had to have their system replaced at least once. Personally, I am on my third system since I bought my original system back in March of 2007 and I can say for sure that my systems did not die from misuse or excessive use as I normally only play an hour or two each night.

The plain fact of the matter is the Microsoft, who can't design hardware worth a damn, decided that they would put the system's GPU, the hottest part of the system, in the NARROWEST part of the case. The resulting lack of airflow eventually leads to the GPU effectively burning out. Microsoft has been trying to solve the problem with a larger heat sink and more thermal grease but this is nothing more than a band-aid. No matter which way you cut it, the 360 runs way too hot and has too little airflow.

And I know 20 or so people with 360's who haven't had to replace a single one of theirs. Of course, they don't have them stuffed into a tiny little cubby hole in their entertainment center, or sitting on top of carpet either ...

There are problems with the 360 overheating, but when you get upwards of 3,4,5 or 6, I'd start investigating what *I* might be doing to cause the problem.

I agree...

Ive had mine sitting on a seperate table with lots of open airspace. THe power brick is on the table too. Not sitting on the carpet I was first shipment of the original xbox machines. Never had a problem with it. still going strong.

You need lots of open airspace, and not have anything impede its airflow. Its no different than a pc, its suppsoed to have x ammount of airspace arround it. typically if you provide that you should be ok.
