Re: DSL line noise on only one phone

I will try the adaptor trick, but that doesn't explain why I have the problem on one phone (2-line) and not on the new phone (2-line). The only difference is that the old phone is a cordless 900mhz, the new one is a corded/cordless (with an extention phone) 2.4 mhz

2 phones line, one has DSL, how many phone in one wall plate. If the two phone lines are sharing one jack with 4 pins (inner 2 for one line, outer 2 for another line), the DSL filter may not work cos the DSL filter only has 2 pins.

If that is the case, get a phone plate and seperate the 2 lines so that each line will be using the inner pins. Or go to 99 cents store get 1/2/1+2 adaptor (I honestly don't know what it is called).

You may have a filter that has gone bad.

are you using the filters supplied by at&t? If so, those are meant for a single line and do not have the ability to filter anything on the outer pair (line 2) of a jack that is wired for 2 lines. You will have to get a 2 line filter at the nearest electronic store.

There are two (2-line)phones. each phone has a dsl filter on it (each phone has a two line, 4 wire plug)
I have never had this problem before and the older phone that is splitting the output with the problem phone is still clean.
I am mystified.
Thanks for your response

1) How many phones are on line 2?

2) Do you you have a filter installed on line 2 before the phone?

I just bought a new 2-line telephone, plugged in the line cord (filtered) and the noise on line 2 (dsl line) makes it unusable. Older phones still have NO noise. Could it be a bad modem? or should I just chuck the new phone (i'd rather not). I have called both phone seller (they use same phone with DSL, no problem. ATT-internet (have no clue.) ATT voice line folks (also no clue). I read on lline that someone replaced their modem and a similar problem went away, but why would it affect only one phone?
Thanks in advance
