it also depends on which codecs and compression schemes are being used. It doesnt matter as much about how much data is being pumped out (different codecs use difference bandwidth).

yup, just like a 192 kilobit AAC audio file will be much higher quality than a 192 kilobit MP3 audio file (I've heard that a 128 kilobit AAC is equal to 192 kilobit MP3, but can't confirm this).

If I recall, Blu-Ray still uses MPEG-2; if someone use h.264/MPEG-4, you could get the same quality at a much lower bit-rate.
