 | I want DSL Extreme 6.0 from At&T (Bellsouth) All I can get in my area of Newnan, GA is Extreme 3.0. Is there anyone I can talk to, to see if 6.0 is going to be available or if it will ever be available. I know others in my area maybe not my immediate area can get 6.0. All I get is shoulder shrugs from people on the phone. I got to have more speed. |

FAQFixerPremium join:2004-06-28 30127 kudos:1 | reply to Too Tall Tim There's many reason why you may not qualify for 6.0. Due to regulatory issues most AT&T folks only have access to a simply yes or no answer. You could probably talk to a local tech when you see one in the neighborhood and get a good answer. »AT&T Southeast Forum FAQ »Why don't I qualify for FastAccess Extreme 3.0 or 6.0? |
|
 | reply to Too Tall Tim pm me and i will give you some people and phone numbers that can explain or help you get a better speed i was told that i could not even get dsl but when i talked too these people they w not only got me dsl but also 6 meg service im about 12 miles south of you all these are local techs |
|
 | Yeap, local techs are your best bet. FAQFixer is correct that most ATT folks can only say yes or no. A few have access to tell you why (too far, no ports open, etc.) but no way to change it or tell you when it may be available, unless it's going to be available in the very near future the system usually will show that. |
|
 | reply to Too Tall Tim The "talk to a local tech" is very sound advice. I posted in here a few weeks ago about our case. AT&T had installed a new U-Verse down the street (which easily handles 6M service) but we were still wired to a box that max'd out at 3M service. All the while the DSL website said Extreme 6.0 "not available."
SO....follow-up with the info these others are offering you. It IS the techs in the field that 100% know what DSL (if any) is available at your service address.
This exact same scenario has happened TWICE to me here in Mississippi. Once in Forest,MS (Scott county)and recently in Fannin,MS (Rankin county)
-PS We could visually see the Bellsouth CO in Forest from our house (about 4 blocks away!) and yet the DSL website and everyone we called insisted there was no DSL in our neighborhood. A local Bellsouth tech we spoke to took care of us and we got Extreme 6.0 the next week.
Talk to your local AT&T guys!!! |

You overtake their work vehicle at a high rate of speed and then when you have merged back into the lane in front of their vehicle you "Brake Check" them. If the tech rear ends you then you can talk to him about DSL or U-verse availability while waiting for the police to show up to make out an accident report. If they don't rear end you then maybe you can get a few words in edgewise before the tech beats you down in a fit of work stress induced road rage.
Option 2:
You can stalk them. Over the years I have noticed that they like to hang out around sturdily built red brick buildings with no windows. If there is an AT&T truck or van parked out front on the road with an orange cone next to it then there is a tech around somewhere. He's probably in the building so keep an eye on the entrance. You will have to wait him out but sooner or later he will come out and go to his vehicle. When he does that then you need to bolt from your vehicle and pounce on him.
Sometimes you can find them off the side of the road working on the wiring in metal cabinets that are usually faded green or beige in color. Try not to startle them though if they are working on something in the cabinet as they may have sharp tools in their hands. They are not going to be in the mood to help you much if they are bleeding all over the place.
.
I have it pretty easy because I live about a 1/4 mile away from the CO in Franklin, KY and can see the CO and the fenced in area behind it where they keep the AT&T vehicles and generator trailers. They can't hide from me because I got my eye on them and even more so since the leaves have fallen off the trees! -- Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care. |

| Re: I want DSL Extreme 6.0 from AT&T (Bellsouth) I don't think your DSL comes from here. It's about 7 miles away as the car drives. You might find some AT&T Techs there though.

| I just went to Member's Tech on your DSLR member page. »/gmaps/dslr?ty···2&zoom=5 I think the places on the map are offset somewhat from their actual street address.
The little red squares are CO locations. Just move the map around to where ever you now reside.
Lots of CO locations for Florida. »/comap/st/FL -- Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care. |

Re: I want DSL Extreme 6.0 from At&T (Bellsouth) You want 6.0? Well, I want a BMW, a dedicated fiber line, and a larger penis. We can't have it all. |

 | reply to Too Tall Tim LMAO..Man, I take a break from here, come back, and look at what I find!!!! Hell, even FAQ is posting in here again!! Funny responses, guys!
As for the OP, Yeah...the local techs would know more on availability of services and at which location in your particular area. Airwolf has the right answer. Look around where there are more the 2 ATT vans/Trucks parked around lunch time. Bet you can get your questions answered then!! Oh, and don't forget to mention ... Prefer to Refer!!!! The techs will climb all over each other to get your referral!! Mine do!!

Re: I want DSL Extreme 6.0 from AT&T (Bellsouth) Then in that case I haven't updated that in at least 4 years.
And it could be the "CO" that is missing there is actually one of those buildings that looks like a CO but is just office space / parking space.

Re: I want DSL Extreme 6.0 from At&T (Bellsouth) the location on 39th ave is not a co it is just a work center . This would be my place place of reporting |
|
 | "Technicians are not to reveal the location of plant or equipment or their purpose to anyone outside the company"- does this sound familiar? there must be a reason for it. |
|
 | reply to Too Tall Tim I called the fast access dsl line today about the 6.0 service. I was told mid January. So maybe it'll be soon for you as well. I'm on the east side of Atlanta in Decatur though... Still no U-Verse yet :`( |
|
 | reply to Too Tall Tim I was originally told September now I am just told no. I don't see too many trucks in my area so is there some other way we can really find out. It took forever just to get DSL. It's bad being on a county line and midway between two cities.
Cheers |
