Re: FIOS TV Central website access with Non AT Router?

Edit to replace previous note with initial analysis.

AWEInCA See Profile captured some traces on the WAN side of the Actiontec (as primary router). Initial analysis shows the use of Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) multicast addresses. 96.6.224.181 is akamaitechnologies.com (a content provider).

From To Protocol Info
Actiontec 224.0.0.1 (All Hosts) IGMP V2 Membership Query, general
Actiontec 239.255.255.250 IGMP V2 Membership Report / Join group 239.255.2 55.250
HM-DVR 224.0.0.251 IGMP V2 Membership Report / Join group 224. 0.0.251
WAN.IP 96.6.224.181 TCP TCP segment of a reassembled PDU
WAN.IP 96.6.224.181 HTTP GET /fiostv/web/members/MySetTop Box es.aspx HTTP/1.1
Actiontec 239.255.255.250 HTTP NOTIFY SERVER: OpenRG/4.0.16.1.56.0.10.7 UPnP/1. 0 A ctiontec/RG_VERSION
LOCATION: »192.168.0.2:2555/upnp/xxxxxxxx-x···desc.xml

The implication for using a third party router as primary is that it will need to forward IGMP protocol to the LAN side, where the Actiontec (or NIM-100) is connected as an ethernet to MOCA bridge. Some home routers may not support forwarding IGMP traffic.

Also note the last line where the Actiontec sends a HTTP NOTIFY broadcast with the Actiontec firmware version string and a link to a UPNP XML document.
