When I started my reply yours wasn't there.

I still think slicing is fairly effective in that most people don't check immediately that they actually have the image that they tried to save. With any luck, they'd be long gone and forgotten exactly where the image was that they wanted.

That's java script and can easily be circumnavigated.

The most effective method I've seen has been to slice the image into lots of little pieces using an image mapping application. That way if somebody right clicks on the image to save it what they end up with is a tiny fragment of the image.

Some people think this protects their images. It does not. It breaks basic browser functionality and annoys the user, but doesn't protect anything.

Some keywords to discourage anyone who would say otherwise:
1) Disable JS
2) Direct URL to image
3) Browser cache
4) many plugins for Fx, etc
5) print screen

I have seen a few time in the past where I can view the image but when you right click on it and chose save target as, you get an error saying you dont have permission - is this something entirely different?
