If population more condensed = greater access to high speed connections, why don't we have 100+ MB connections in NYC, ATL, DET, SAN, SEA, CHI, LAX, BOS, etc? | | espaeth Digital Plumber Premium,MVM join:2001-04-21 Minneapolis, MN

1) Population density 2) Government built telecom (NTT Japan was government built, still partially government owned. Similar situation in South Korea) 2) Investors willing to take on long term (30+ year) debt
Within the US cities you mentioned you'll still find pockets of places with better access. A friend of mine lives in NYC and his building provides 100mbps Ethernet access to all of the condos. Out on the west coast you have services like Paxio.
It's not that the services don't exist in the US -- they're just not widespread. | |
