| [Connectivity] Comcast blocking voip ports again!!!
Good day everyone, I have been working with VOIP now for quite some time, and about 9 months ago, I lost access to my voip on port 5060 and 5061. I had to change the port numbers to make it work and found no issue with the serving end nor the ata on this end. 24 hours after my phone service was "blocked", I got a call from Comcast marketing department trying to offer me phone service and explained they were better because they own the network blah blah blah....
Now 9 months later, it happened again, this time on Sunday evening I tried to place a call at 9:30 eastern time and the line was dead. Again checked the internet and it was working, pinged the voip server, and it worked.. check other users that share this service with me and they are all up and running. I tested the ported in and out from both ends and nothing would get through, but all other ports around that range worked fine.
I even rebooted the voip server to make sure it was not failing as well as rebooted the ata.
So changed the ports, and back up and running. Comcast called the very next day in the morning. AGAIN trying to sell me and letting me know they are more reliable than voip because internet can go down alot and I could lose my service. SO how the hell did they first off know I was using voip on this recent call. They either A: looked up my phone number and provider with out my permission and against the privacy act, or B they know I am using voip because of the "port block" on the voip ports.
I have filed a complaint with the FCC with all my testing and data to support Comcasts bull.. So if you are having this same sort of issue, you are asked to contact the FCC and file a complaint. This sort of corporate grab and go has to end. End to comcast, and I demand that the CEO resign!!!!
The FCC stated they are not allowed to perform this sort of block, however with the offical testing in affect by both software and the isp hosting the server, they have been caught with their pants down!!!! So I expect my lawyer will also want to launch a class action against them.
So anyone else having this issue please report it to the fcc if you find that your provider is able to change your. if not then call anyways.. and let me know and I'll put you in touch with my laywer... need to stop this bull once and for all!! ITS NOT COMCASTIC.. ITS A CORPORATE GREED!!! |
