Here is the vent that the fiber was pulled through | It was then run along the moldings | He then drilled into my apartment from the hallway and ran the fiber in | The ONT was installed in a closet |
Ok, so my FIOS install was completed yesterday! It took roughly 6 hours, and there were a few surprises along the way. First, it turns out that for some reason Verizon didnt install a fiber panel in the utility closet on my floor. They did install one on the floor below however, but the tech then needed to pull fiber up a shaft to my location.
After he (VZ tech) ran the fiber from the vent along the molding, he then drilled a hole in the wall (from the hallway) into a closet in my apartment. He then ran the fiber through two interior closets, to a location that he installed the ONT. From there he used the existing coax that was in place to connect to an Actiontek router in my living room. This feeds both my (internal) router as well as the set top box in this room. He installed a splitter, and then used more (existing) coax to feed the set top box in my bedroom.
Before he left I ran some speed tests (wireless), and I was getting around 23Mbps/5.5Mbs so I was very pleased. We had some issues getting the set top box to work with my HD television, however I sorted it all out after he left. Overall I am very happy, my only issue is that I need to learn the location of all my favorite channels! -- Комитет государственной безопасности
