For some reason this looks like a bad CGI game. I thought NWN2 look different?

Well, the NWN games have never been known for their graphics, more for the Dungeons and Dragons game play style.

They go for game play first, then graphics. Saying that, those graphics don't look horribly bad. I guess it's just me. Even though I run a med-high end rig, I generally look past bad graphics if the game play is really good.

The graphics actually got quite a bit of improvement in this go-around since the last time I played NWN2, but otherwise I'm not all that impressed with SoZ. But then again I've only played it for about ten minutes.

I enjoyed Neverwinter 2 a great deal, despite some shortcomings.

I recently played the Mask of the Betrayer expansion and liked some of the improvements, especially to the crafting system, but overall it seemed short and with no great depth to the storyline.

Let me know how SoZ goes. I haven't decided if I will even bother with this.

NWN2 for me was full of technical issues but what really got me was the agonizing load time between zones, and i have a pretty decent system. Some quests made me zone a few times within a matter of minutes and that really tested my patience. IMO the game is poorly planned and executed.. im gonna pass on this one.

Hmm I definitely did not know about it lol. I love NWN and NWN2.

Although Mask of the Betrayer was boring and stupid, at least that's what I got from it. The whole devouring crap and all that just got tedious and annoying.

Perhaps I'll keep my eye out for this one and see if it is any good.

I never did finish Mask of the Betrayer because of the bugs. I hope this is better.

Sure was, such a distraction. I just used cheats so that I didn't have to bother with that crap.

I not only missed this, but NWN2 entirely. How in the hell?

Was NWN2 close to as good as NWN?

Depends on who you ask. The graphics are certainly better. In order to fix a problem that causes computers to grind to a halt, they changed some viewing options that made it more difficult for me to control the action. Some people tried to get it back to the old way, but you had to do a lot of digging in config files to get close. I tend to not enjoy sequels as much. In NWN, I played through the original game three or four times as different classes. In NWN2, I played through only one time. The bugs drove me crazy and I ended up having to abandon my one game and start over because of problems with the saved games. You can get it cheap now, so I think it's worth getting.

Thankfully a lot of those problems have been fixed via patches. I think the patches are up to a gig now if you download them all. I honestly liked the xpac Mask of the Betrayer more than the original campaign.

The only thing that still drives me batty is the crazy camera in the game. I like the expanded view but the camera in the original game was much better.

I have been disappointed with the lack of quality user created episodes for NWN2. There were/are a ton for NWN that I still play. The Rose series, and the Eye of the Beholder remake are all top notch.

Thanks for the link Shin! I'll definitely be checking this out. There is a small xpac that was released as a story add on as well. 10 bucks. Pretty good too. I have to wait until I get home to find the name.
