Did Miller or McGuinty cut taxes, because I don't think your pet federal complaint applies to municipal transit issues. Regardless, keep it to CanPol. -- "Moving your Tylenol to the low shelf in your medicine cabinet is not the way to prevent children from falling off a stool when reaching for the top shelf." The Harperites have decided it's a provincial responsibility, but they have kicked in some bucks |

| reply to elwoodblues Sounds more like incompetence to me, rather than lack of money. Once again, the first line of my sig seems to be the explanation we are looking for here!
With hundreds of expensive new buses being purchased with federal and provincial handouts and major service expansion announcements, the TTC doesn't exactly seem to be wallowing in poverty: »www.thestar.com/News/Canada/article/347159 »www.marketwire.com/press-release···198.html -- "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity" -- a corollary of Murphy's Law "A dog is like a child who never grows old ... always there to love and be loved" -- Aaron Katcher

@look.ca | reply to elwoodblues I could see this having gone the other way with the headline reading "TTC WASTES TAX DOLLARS SCRAPPING COSMETICALLY DAMAGED VEHICLE"
I seriously kinda wonder if this is a "Damned if ya do and damned if ya don't kinda scenario?" |

What's the old rule? If you can use your car like it's the Flintstones, time to get a new car. |

If you can use your car like it's the Flintstones, time to get a new car. I had a friend who was pulled in an old shitbox 1984 mustang 4banger, he had a huge chunk of his rear trunk rusted out, and much of the rear wheel well sheetmetal as well. This was years ago, I dont think he was given a ticket just an order to get it repaired and safety tested afterwards. -- GO LEAFS GO! |

The officer also had the courtesy to let the bus finish dropping off passengers and only ordered it off the road at the end of the day, rather than kicking everyone off the bus and taking it off the road the moment the metal started to hit the car. The TTC are fuming over the "conduct" of the police, but in my opinion they have a lot of nerve to say peep about this. I suppose this is what happens when the largest transit system in the country is run by a 31 year-old socialist who's never had a real job in his life. -- I swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada and fulfil my duties as a Canadian citizen. |

Buses are supposed to last some 20+yrs (I think they get a rebuild in between) but this is crazy! |

| reply to HiVolt Back in my College days I had an old Pontiac Astra, it sucked more oil then gas.
Got pulled over by the cops because of the fumes coming out of the back. They rocked the seats to make sure they didn't come apart, then made me get a Safety at the DOT.
Well I spent more then a few days doing a bondo job on the rust and giving it a spray can paint job.
It was taken from me at the Keele Street DOT to get tested, while they were checking it out, it was just SPEWING oil fumes...
Not a peep.. a few minor issues which I fixed the next week and it passed the Safety... these days I suspect they'd look at the fumes and pull the plates due to environmental concerns |
