| [Internet] Internet Installation Question
I have a tech scheduled for an Internet installation in couple days.
However, the phone jack is not in the same room as where my computer and current internet [rogers] is setup.
Would anyone whether the Bell tech be able to run a telephone wire from one room to the other, or do I need to provide him with an phone extension wire? I have asked the customer service but they were not sure.
Also, what other access would this tech need? I may not be home for the installation, so need to inform my parents about it.
Thanks. |

Yes, at the cost of $100.00 plus taxes. If you live in an apartment/condo, the technician will need to gain access to the basement. Best to inform the Superintendent/Condo Manager on duty

A regular telephone extension cable is a poor choice. Far better to run a 4 core phone cable. |

@cgocable.net | reply to SaHiL Look in the phone book under "Telephone installation and Repair" to get a jack installed. You will pay less, get a guy with probably more experience,a longer warranty period and he will most likely come when he says he will. |

As it turned out, the Bell modem is a 2wire dsl/wireless modem. So, all i have to do is to dig up a pci wireless card to plug my computer and all good to go.
Btw, the bell tech installed the modem last night and apparently I get 7.1 mbps on a 7 mb plan. He said if I want I can get the wimax pro 16mb, at about 16mb no issues.
Tested with speedtest.net to verify that my downloads were in 7K kb/s range. Nice!! |
