[video] Jet pack pilot flies across canyon

I want one!!!

CANON CITY, CO -- A daredevil wearing a jet pack has flown across a 1,500-foot-wide canyon in southern Colorado.
The sponsoring Go Fast Sports & Beverage says Eric Scott took 21 seconds to cross the Royal Gorge at 75 mph on Monday. It says he didn't use a parachute while flying across the 1,100-foot-deep canyon.
He was wearing a jet pack powered by hydrogen peroxide and developed by Jet Pack International. The company developed it for stunts, promotions and other events for Go Fast.
Both companies are based in Denver and were founded by entrepreneur Troy Widgery.

Just keep your flights to 30 secs or less.

Why cross a canyon when you can cross the English Channel.

Jetman is a pussy with a parachute over water. The guy went over a canyon with no parachute and landed like freaking Elroy from 'The Jetsons'. That is almost practical!
You can buy one if ya want

no offense to anyone, but these things have been around since the early '70s (possibly earlier, dunno) and have never been much more than a hi-tech novelty item. somebody will bring one out every 5-10 years and scream "look what we have! we are so hi-tech!"

if they truly want to impress me, have dude strap one on and fly from cleveland to, oh i dunno, let's say san antonio ... maybe then i'll be impressed with it's practicality.

So not true. at least not this advanced. almost all previous versions have been tethered.

You're kidding, right?

I can personally remember the guy flying into the Los Angles stadium untethered in the opening ceremonies of the 1984 Olympic Games. It's even mentioned on the Wiki page for "1984 Summer Olympics" under the heading of "Highlights."

The first true flying version was built by Bell in the 60's. It was an untethered model as well.

True, jetpacks have been around for a long time. The biggest hurdle to overcome the fuel issue.
