Re: ZyXEL NBG334W Reviews?

I will inquire, I sold a few many months ago, when they first came out, with no issues.

That I can verify. I purchased three of them from Anav. All of them are still working flawlessly.

Hopefully I just got a bad unit...I'm sending it back for a replacement.

Hey gadgets did you do some throughput tests, I am interested in FTP speeds and other methods? Have you used the guest wifi?

One thing I found strange was the main wifi doesn't support WEP, only the gues wifi has this security option. Unless I'm missing something...

Heh, I find that progressive not strange. Some people may have older gaming devices which only except WEP and thus the utility of guest wifi. Why you would want to have a basically non encryption mode on your private LAN is beyond me!

That's the whole point, for older gaming devices. Nintendo DS for example only has WEP support.

I agree though it is progressive and a step in the right direction, plus you can always run the guest wifi with WEP. The dual-SSID feature is a major plus!

I never did any throughput testing, however I just d/l'd the OOL speed test file to my laptop over a 8 megabit connection, connected wirelessly on the primary not the guest wlan, and the distance was 45 ft. through three walls, one of which used to be an exterior wall. The d/l rate was 1 MB/sec using Firefox. The guest wifi is active and used on all three routers.

I am running the house on a zywall 2WG but dont have the wifi on as the house is fully wired. I want to install the USG100 next. NBG334SH is still in the box, I never ended up getting the NBG334W. On sale now for $19.95 and free shipping at buy.com.

Do they have retail stores??

Actually it does, but doesn't appear as an option until you disable the stupid wireless config pushbutton thing (I forget what it is called). It took me a while to "find" it when I got mine.

No, they're kind of like a electronic flea market. You go there to buy but it is someone else who is selling there. They handle the transaction but the actual shipment is done by the actual seller.

That's right, the WPS setting. The NBG-318S has that same issue, no WEP support with WPS enabled. Thanks for the reminder!
