Re: Can't access redtube.com

A couple things:

1) Can you access it via IP »66.55.141.21 (ALERT: THIS IS A NSFW LINK!)

2) Can you trace route it?

3) Can you ping it?

Hosts file? Where/ what is that? What am I looking for?
Windows: %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Linux and Unix derivatives: /etc/hosts

edit: "What am I looking for?", typically it should not have anything there other than one line like
127.0.0.1 localhost

use pornhub.com instead! the fact that i work for them has nothing to do with that suggestion!

Again, tossing comments like that should automatically be followed by stories, blog posts and pictures!

Thanks.

I didn't have time last night to have a look, I was out all night. I'll have a look over the weekend and post the results.

Another dumb question that shows my truel lack of computer skills.... where/ how do I find the %windir% directory? Is it the same if i use firefox?

No, he said he worked for that said company but failed to provide insight or details about the said company. At worst, post the sort of IT equipment they use, the rest is up to him

Almost always it's c:\windows. You can just paste what I posted into Start-->Run.

Ya, redtube is my least favorite, the only reason I know about it is becasue someone posted it in another thread here.

youporn is the easiest to remember, just checked out pornhub.com, it looks pretty good (lucky to have nothing blocked here at work :0)).

When its not C:\Windows, then its C:\WINNT

UNLESS you manually changed it when Windows was installed.

Ok, I finally had a chance to try this at home.

I am able to access the site if I click on the link 66.55.141.21 you posted above. But if I type in redtube.com it says unable to connect.

What does this mean?

There are a few things in there, two hosts.(numbers here)backup files, a few other files and a "SAM" file lmhosts.sam

You want just the one named "hosts", with no extension or any other suffix.

Do I delete the rest from that folder? What are those files anyway?

No! You need those. Don't worry about those. Just post what you have in "hosts" if it's more than one line.
