 [TWC] Price Increase in SoCal???

WTF...I just love how TWC does business. They just raise your rates without any prior notification. I have the RR Extreme 10/1 service (yes they still have not even upgraded this area to 15/2 yet)and get my bill lately, and see it has went up to $56.95 ($2 more)p/ month. I have received plenty of advertisements both in email and snail mail, but yet, no mention of this price increase? WTF is wrong with these people???

Call em up for clarification. I did not get such increase, I have the "Surf N' View - Turbo" package which is basically Digital Cable + Turbo, and it is still $89,95 like always.... (and yeah, on top of that I have two extra TV tiers, HBO, and DVR, so my total bill is a little over $130 with all the taxes and fees).

My total bill was exactly the same as last month, and the month before. Last time I actually called them to discuss my bill and at the same time add a service, my total bill dropped by $8, and with adding the HD service for $5, my bill still dropped by $3.

So... call em up to discuss. Perhaps they can restructure your total bill in a package deal also, and get a few bucks discount.

I think the price increase was for single play customers only.

Well, since I pay online, I do not get "bill messages" so to speak. I decided to go back and look at the PDF copies, and saw it listed on the OCT statement, saying this:

"Effective with your next monthly bill, all Road Runner retail rates will be increased by $2 to
Lite $26.95, Basic $36.95, Standard $46.95 and Turbo $56.95. Surf N' Talk bundles with
Road Runner or EarthLink will increase by $3 to Surf N' Talk $72.95 and Surf N' Talk Turbo
$82.95"

Also, I only have stand alone HSI, no cable or digital phone, so don't think there will be any type of discount. That's what I was told last time I called too see about a lower price.

Oh well. Thanks Maartena for replying!

I've already fired an inquiry to PR, but do you know if this is for all markets?

$47 is still quite a bit less than many operators (Comcast comes to mind) for standalone. Wasn't that lower price point due to AOL merger conditions?

The increase is for subs without video service, even if you're a "Double Play" sub with the "Talk and Surf" plan you bill will go up $2 because you don't have video service.

I got this alert in my October bill:

Effective with your November 2008 bill, the monthly rate for your Internet service will increase
$3.00 per month. If you are currently receiving an introductory rate for your Internet service, the
adjustment will be applied at the end of your promotional period.

I have no idea what I'm paying though. They lump it all together on one line:
DigiPic 1000 and Road Runner Bundle - $110

I have digital cable and RR Turbo.

No notification of any kind here, and TW's website still links to the April 2008 price sheet for this area.

You can check on pricing and effective dates for RR Socal at:

Mine shows "effective March 2008" and there haven't been any recent price increases. This won't resolve anything but is helpful for background information.

I wasn't on your bill? I got the notice on the bill's notice section on the month before the increase.

$3 increase for RR here. Total of $6 increase of my bill since the beginning of the year.

RR went from $44.95 to $47.95. I only have Basic/Standard and RR, which they won't bundle anymore.

Also noticed that the Savings Box that magically appeared on my last three bills prior to NOV is now gone.
