| Speedstream 4100 log times
Does anyone know of issues with the 4100's log keeping the correct date and time? I've had many issues lately, and I noticed that the dates and times didn't always match. For example, looking yesterday (27th), it listed several link losses on the 25th, when I know they occurred on the 26th. If anything, it should show a day ahead as it's GMT. It had been running for only a week since the last reset. |

| It does not seem likely that there would no response from a timeserver for long enough to drift by that much. Plus as you probably know until there is a response you get a figure like +1 days instead of a time that is way off. Are you running the 53 firmware? Not that I know of a problem, just wondering.
I had a thread a few years back complaining about AT&T using the NIST's timeservers instead of their own or pool.ntp.org. I haven't checked lately but five years ago we were consistently having trouble getting a response from NIST servers due to overloading.
We'll all be gone in 4 billion years anyway, right?
When trying to correlate problems I have imported the logs into Excel and set up a formula to give the right offset for local time. I have no trouble with the 24-hour clock but I don't use UTC daily so if I look at the log without converting, it's too hard for me to concentrate on troubleshooting and offsetting in my head. -- USNG: 16TDN2870 Find your Lat-Long: Geocoder |
