@rogers.com | reply to Omr I'm using Rogers highspeed internet and I was throttled to 30 kb/s using uTorrent 1.8.1 but I just switched to uTorrent 1.9 beta and it fixed the throttling problem. I went from a MAX of 30 kb/s to around 400 - 500 kb/s. |

2 edits | Huh, what planet have you been living on? Rogers has been throttling from way back as far as 2004, just never publicly admitted it. They have publicly admitted at the beginning of 2007.
This is not even a generous Throttling ... Rogers doesn't do it within certain "Peak" times, there beast is on 24/7 ... now I am to believe some areas have had these daemons off, but it is a policy choice that they throttle. So if you are not throttled now, you can be at anytime as Rogers Policy is to throttle.
Rogers is infamous for being one of the first to start Throttling ... I say one of the first as I believe all Cable companies in Canada started throttling at or around the same time ie. Shaw and Cogeco. Now since Rogers is the biggest, and it's effects have been so well documented by aggravated Canadian P2P users ... it has gained online notoriety for being the scumbag ISP all other ISP's are compared to.
EDIT: Correction, Videotron doesn't throttle and they are Canadian.
EDIT2: Rogers is also dubious for charging the worst overage fees, throttling all encrypted data, and having low caps.

| reply to Omr Hmmm wouldn't the use of the lates uTorrent clien be the same as simply dropping (Filtering in NAT) all the TCP packets by alloeing travers by UDP packets?
I mean if you say open up port x to UDP but not TCP and indicate to Utorrent to use port x.
So? Anyone? -- Cheers! |

@rogers.com | reply to Omr Well up until a few weeks ago I wasn't throttled by Rogers but then one day it just suddenly kicked in and I was stuck at 30 kb/s, even for encrypted traffic. |

| reply to Omr I am pretty disapponted this didn't work. It seems like the thorttling is getting worst too. My connection speed is now cap even at regular hours. I am finally fed up with Bell's measure. I just ordered the linksys router and will install tomato to it to bypass the thorttling. |

| reply to Omr I know a guy that has been throttled 90% of the time at around 40-60k/s... he's used utorrent stock, 1.9 beta, and it's working wonderfully for him, he got osmething in the range of 3-400k/s download at around 6PM.
Myself, I haven't been so lucky. It seems that my connection kicks out after a certain time - that is to say, I get throttled soon after (between 3 and 15 minutes). I"ve changed the settings to the one mentioned above, and will report any percieved changes when they are available. |
