The only way I can think of to get those results using a 327 would be if you have put the 327 in "bridge mode", but forgotten to disable it's DHCP server.

When bridging a Westell modem/router - you need to change the protocol to "bridge"; change the bridge mode to "bridge"; and disable the DHCP server.

edit:
It's also possible that you have a PPPoE type connection to Verizon, and are using PPPoE software on the PC to connect, instead of setting the 327 up to do the PPPoE.
It would help a lot to know which state you are in and what lights are lit on the 327 when you are able to go online.
