If you can adjust the VPI and VCI, then the modem will most likely work with qwest. And for what it's worth, Qwest's basic dsl bandwidth is 896kb UP and not 760kb. |

| reply to pdxfile There have been posted in this forum lists of compatible dsl modems for qwest so you may want to do a search for the. Also qwest list the official compatible modems on their website.
I do know that not all dsl modems will work with qwest dsl service. |

| reply to pdxfile Maybe my primary question is whether or not any dsl modem will work with Qwest, or whether they use some proprietary hardware/software combination that allows only Actiontec modems to be used?
Is there any reason not to choose an Actiontec modem, vs. one from someone else?
Is there a step up quality-wise, signal processing wise, upgradability-wise, etc if I choose another manufacturer?
QWest offers DSL only (no phone line) for about 39 bucks a month, no commitment. I'm weighing that against phone line/basic DSL charges combination that require you commit to at least a year to get the discounted price. |
