Re: Too expensive

said by Matt:

As other reviewers (and even Intel) has noted, these are not good for daily use. At $399 + $125 - $120 = $404 they are simply too expensive and will fill a niche rather than replace notebooks.

That's why I don't get these netbook things people are hawking. For $100 more I can get a laptop that is pretty good for daily use. Sure it's not the most powerful, but it damn sure ain't as hobbled as these netbooks.

The netbooks are nothing but the "look at how small it is" product. Where everybody stands around and says ewww and ahhhh. But it has a very short lifespan.

I don't really get netbooks either. My iPhone can mostly do everything that things netbooks can - But it's cheaper, smaller, and it's my cellphone. Sure, I can't write a paper, or write code on my iPhone - But if I was doing that i'd bring along my normal laptop anyways.

It's interesting, the thing I use a netbook for is indeed writing, which is totally impossible on an iPhone (well, I can't speak to the iPhone, but I assume it's not any better than the iPod touch in this regard)- I do have a normal laptop, but the savings in weight makes it worth it to me...

Exactly. The Netbooks (9" and under) are too small to be of any real use (like writing a paper) and are way to cumbersome to carry around unlike an iPhone.

But perhaps there is a use for them that all of us are just not seeing?
