ff1324 posted : I should have followed this up. I contacted Surpass and they did up the limit server-wide to 64M. I haven't' done a bunch of testing yet, but I think this should handle a majority of the issues.
--
Remember the 2008 firefighters and police LODD's in St. Louis:
PO Ballman, Sgt. Even 32mb would be a big difference for you.

TearAbite posted : I'm no expert, but any shared host is going to force memory limits down your throat - after all, you have to share nice..

If you're using Drupal and Gallery2 (which i also am) - you should only need to add your changes in ONE place unless you have multiple accounts..

anyway - your best choice might be a Dedi server. I switched to a Dedi a year or two ago on Surpass and i'm happy w/it..

ff1324 posted : I'm currently hosted at Surpass. But I'm getting to the point I'm going to start shopping around.

I know the fix for the persistent "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 58292 bytes)" error is to insert php.ini to adjust the php memory limit, but I'm getting awfully tired of having to pick through any installed package (Drupal, Gallery2, etc.) and find places to insert the php.ini file in EVERY DIRECTORY NEEDED.

Is it this way at all hosts?
