Re: Monument, CO Pics of first major stormfront

I live about a mile and a half southwest of Fox Run Regional Park off Baptist Road in Pleasant View Estates...

Great place to live, but sure gets dark at night...no street lights...

In my part of Colorado Springs we had 9 inches. Black Forest was reported to have 21 inches on the TV news. The weather forecast the night before didn't predict all the snow.

He said I could have some after he had gutted it...but I declined. I don't have a freezer big enough to hold a sum of meat like that plus all my regular frozen stuff... It was a pretty big buck. 3 prongs on the left horn and about 18 inches from base of skull to tips. (Or however/whatever you call them and measure them).

Since they saw it alive, I guess it's not as gross to think about harvesting the meat than if they had found it alongside the road already dead (and not knowing for how long it had been there).

I'm sure he'll get at least 100 pounds of meat out of it.

Maybe his family will invite me over for dinner one night though...lol

Woke up this morning to find a dead buck next to my driveway.

Apparently it stumbled into the neighbors yard, they scared it over to our side and it dropped dead in the snow. Looks like it either got hit by a car or maybe got into a bad fight as it looked like the right half of his horns were broken off and missing.

Then found out it was going to cost me $100 to have it taken away, but the neighbor said he wanted it for the meat, so we let him drag it back over to his property...

We got about 8-10 inches on the north side near Woodmen and Union.

Great photo's, I live east of the Springs Airport so far we haven't had anywhere near the amount of snow you have had, maybe later on the snow will pickup

Impressive! It's good to finally see the white stuff piling up. It's been snowing lightly all day for us too but we've only got about 6 inches of snow. We're just north of you in the Littleton/Centennial area on the south side of Denver.
