1 edit | It can be anywhere. It's typically outside of most houses built within I think the 80's or 90's but it can be in the basement. If you can, locate it. If there isn't a NID or a junction anywhere, it wouldn't hurt to try another jack as close as posible to where the main wire enters your home. Since it sounds like you're using a desktop, it wouldn't hurt to find a friend with a laptop that you could use to check some things out.
Might I mention, if you have voice service and if there is any static/cracking/buzzing/humming on the line at all, as well as at the NID if you have one, Verizon Voice repair will need to be called in. Once the noisy line is repaired if you have noise on the voice, the DSL should follow. |
