Good investment for now as you can wait for blu-ray to drop in price and also the movies. I thought about buying a blu-ray player but the movies are very expensive (27.99-34.99 generally) for a new release is a joke in my opinion.

Thats funny. Looking at Amazon's best seller list for Bluray, they are all under $27 with most coming in for $22 or so.

As for buying movies, if I am given the choice to buy a regular DVD for $16 or a Bluray for $24, I will spend a little extra for the Bluray version because it looks much much nicer. Thats just me though.

I have a PS3 that does upverting as well as Bluray and I like it a lot.
