| ASDL2 fiber-optic 7MB -- Dropouts with 2Wire 2700HG-D
Qwest recently upgraded from copper to fiber optic DSL and I am using the 7 Mb/s option. I do get 7 MB speed. Now I get dropouts every 15-20 mins (1-5 secs in length)and then loose contact with workstations. Qwest seems unable to fix the problem. My modem appears to work normally and wireless still works fine. It has been in service for about a year. According to the status log and the modem lights, Qwest keeps dropping the line. Qwest simply cannot fix it - they have changed my port with no improvement. All worked perfectly until the the new DSLAM unit installed.

| Keep in mind that if you are on the 7MB plan that you are using regular ADSL and not ADSL2. Quest only offers ADSL2 service on the 12MB & 20MB plans. They offer regular ADSL service on the 1.5MB, 3MB, 5MB & 7MB plans. A CO based DSLAM(s) or a neighborhood RDSLAM can offer both ADSL & ADSL2. |
