It consists of four conductors, but they are not twisted into pairs.

Green/Red is Line 1
Black/Yellow Line 2

New construction uses twisted pair cable like that used for Ethernet to improve transmission when multiple phone lines or DSL is used.

All you need to do is disconnect all four wires and swap them. That way jacks that used to be on line 1 are now on line 2 and vice versa.

If you are feeling adventurous you might want to think about installing a while house POTS/DSL splitter near the NID. Splitter does a better job of isolating DSL from voice and eliminates need to have a filter on each non-DSL device. This is especially important if you have a lot of voice devices or your DSL circuit is long.

/tom

tschmidt : If interruption of service is a critical consideration why not get DSL on the other line then cancel old DSL. That way there is no break in service. Since this is a new account will also get a new email address - that may or may not be an issue. If the existing line is under contract there may be a cancellation charge.

Something else that may be of interest is to merge at least two of the lines and get Selective ring. That way you don't need to move DSL to another physical line.

We are in a somewhat similar situation with two phone lines. Have though about canceling one but the physical circuit DSL is currently on is better then the other line. We are slightly out of distance for 3000/768 service. Since it has been stable I'm reluctant to make any changes.

/tom
