Re: FTP server via Westell 9100

Hrm I see.. In the past with Comcast when I would run an FTP server from my PC I never had to do anything. It just worked, had a linksys router at the time.. Thanks for the feedback at any rate

Im not even sure if im doing this right:

I want my ftp to use port 2132.

You are likely running into a problem with passive vs. active ftp.

You can try opening/forwarding ports 20 and 21 to the server, then make sure all the people connecting use "active" mode instead of passive mode.

If you're just sharing pictures/etc with family, consider a web server instead - or a sharing site like Flickr.

Hey guys, I have recently just opened up an FTP server on my PC to share pictures and movies with family and friends.

My trouble is, I cannot seem to open the proper port to do so.. And I really don't wanna run my PC in DMZ mode off the router. Is there a better way of doing this?
