| what would cause me to go though dsl modems
with in at least 6 months i went though 6 modems it would be working then one day no sync i replaced modem then it would be fine. some times i loose sync and phone service, but when I try to call the line it is Busy. would a illegal wiretap cause this? I know that my phone is wiretapped because i have in use lights on the phones light up for no reason "Verizon does not do any thing about it" |

| LOL - you have zero proof the line is wiretapped and wiretapping would not cause the modems to go bad AND would be done at the ISP level (certainly past your modem level) and you definitely would not know it.
Bad power to the modem could certainly cause problems - spikes, surges, and brownouts. |

| modem |
The problem with the dsl modems is they still power up but no longer sync up. When I take the cover off the fuse near the phone jacks is blown. in the attached picture the fuse is circled in red.
when it rains here my internet gets very slow. for some reason |

| Likely water is getting into the copper lines causing noise and interference on the line. If you notice static on your phone when it rains then that is another clue that water is getting into the line. Next thing to do would be to see if the noise is from inside wiring or outside - to do that you would have to check the noise at the NID when it rains. Noise at the NID would mean the problem is between the CO and the house and the ILEC should be able to take care of it if you complain about noise on the voice line.
I can't see the fuse is blown - not sure if the power in the phone line would be enough - even if water did get into the copper wire. I am sure someone that knows better than I do can answer that question. |

| If you are popping the fuse in the DSL Modem on the phone line connection then you have spikes hitting your line. If the fuse is popping on the power side, then you have bad or dirty power and should put the DSL Modem behind a Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS). -- Whats the point of owning a supercar if you cant scare yourself stupid from time to time? |

| I'd sure re-check the ground and make 100% sure it tests as grounded and not as an open circuit. There is an epidemic of installs that are truly not grounded.
